Hoist the sails, sailor!

Hello Landlubbers ☺️

Leros was Amae's home. And we learned to love the barren dodecanese island, the fantastic vegetables in the greengrocer's shop, Marietta's roadside Bistro with the colorful chairs and authentic lunch, the Nescafé frappé and the mixed chicken-pork gyros with Tzatziki from the Foodhouse. We met lots of fascinating and wonderful people and received an incredible amount of help and tips.

👋🏼
After two and a half months of preparation, we said goodbye to our friends and left Leros to head west. Saying goodbye was hard.

⛵️
After leaving the Dodecanese, we sailed through the beautiful Cyclades (Mykonos, Syros, Kea) and finally reached the mainland, where we completed the installation of the lithium batteries and our autopilot. It wasn't a piece of cake, but we did it.

🫒
Since July, we've been enjoying (mostly) smooth sailing in the eastern and southern Peloponnese. This region got to us with its rugged mountains, dense forests, olive trees, beautiful hikes, beaches, castles and fortresses, monasteries, and lovely villages.
Oh, and turtles – we saw many beautiful loggerhead sea turtles!

🌕
The next two weeks, we plan to sail to the Northern Ionian before setting sail for Sicily. It will be our first night sailing experience aboard Amae. The crossing to Italy is about 250 nautical miles and will take us two to three days.

Many smiles from the Peloponnese,
Philipp & Kristel
